Another component that works similar to the air injection pump is the air distributor. There are many names that can be used to refer to an air distributor and they are the air management valve or a distribution manifold. Component responsible for changing the direction of the air flow is the air distributor valve. The air distributor on changing the direction of air flow directs it to either the exhaust manifold or to the catalytic converter. The operating conditions of that specific vehicle is what is the determining factor to the switching of direction.
